Weld Engineering

More problems occur at welds than anywhere else in structural and process equipment applications.

In order to comply with national standards which apply collectively to codes, specifications, and recommended practices, it is mandatory that welding procedures be written and qualified in accordance with the applicable standard. The welding procedure specification will be requalified any time there is a change in an essential variable as referenced by the standard being followed.

Depending on your needs, we will design your welding procedure specification to any of the following codes and standards:

  • ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code

  • AWS Structural Welding Codes

  • CWB and CSA welding standards

  • DNV Fabrication and Testing of Offshore Structures.

  • ABS Rule requirements for material and welding

Need Help with welding Troubles?
CWB Retained Engineers Services

If you are a fabrication company and Thinking about moving up to Division 2, we can help...

In Ontario and throughout Canada, it is a legal requirement that all steel structures be fabricated and by CWB (Canadian Welding Bureau) certified companies.

  • To be certified as Division 1, the company shall employ a CWB qualified welding engineer on a full-time basis

  • To be certified as Division 2, a company shall retain a CWB qualified welding engineer on a part-time basis

We provides CWB Retained Engineering services to companies that require CWB certification to Division 2 as a component of their structural steel fabrication. This extensive experience is placed at your company's service. It's like having a complete engineering department of your own.

Our CWB approved welding engineers will guide your company through the process of obtaining and maintaining CWB certification (CSA W47.1).

How You Benefit

If you perform steel fabrication and repair as a minor component of your total service package it may not be cost-effective for you to employ a CWB approved Engineer on a full time basis. By using our Retained Engineering services, you can eliminate the expense of hiring a full-time CWB approved Engineer, yet maintain full legal compliance under Division II.

WPS and Welder Qualification

A Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) is the formal written document describing welding procedures, which provides direction to the welder or welding operators for making sound and quality production welds as per the code requirements. A PQR is a record of a test weld performed and tested (more rigorously) to ensure that the procedure will produce a good weld. Individual welders are qualified with a process which examines and documents a welder's capability to create welds of acceptable quality following a well defined welding procedure.

Each standard has its own unique welder and welding operator qualification requirements, such as those put forth by the American Welding Society (AWS) American Petroleum Institute (API) or American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).

We at DVerse Engineering have experienced and qualified welding engineers and inspectors to develop, examine and approve any Welding Procedure Specification and/ or qualification records.

We can maintain historical files and welder logs for each client thereby ensuring the continuity of the client's welding program.
